The Headboard of My Dreams & More! | Fall 2020 One Room Challenge - Week 4
Updated: Nov 19, 2020
Hello and welcome to week 4 of the One Room Challenge! We are just 2 weeks away from the final reveals, and I am getting so excited!
If you're new here, the One Room Challenge is an interior design event that happens twice a year. The event brings together interior design professionals, novices, and anyone who wants to complete a room makeover in 6 weeks. Each week, participants link up on the ORC site to share progress and encourage each other along the way. It's so fun to watch these room transformations happen! There is soo much creativity out there! Take a look at some of the other ORC projects here.
For my ORC, I am making over our master bedroom. We moved into our new house in the beginning of summer, and until now our bedroom was just bland and untouched. But not anymore! Check out my other posts to follow the progress:
This week was all about deliveries. My desk faces a window overlooking our street, so all week long I've been anxiously peeking out the window anytime a delivery truck drove by, haha! Thankfully, a lot of the things I ordered arrived this week! So, let's take a look.
As a reminder, here's where we started:
And where we're at:
First of all, THAT HEADBOARD!!! It is absolutely stunning and everything I dreamed it would be. It really pulls the whole design together and it's just such a showstopper. We've actually never had a headboard before, so it feels amazing to have one that makes such a big statement and is just so beautiful.
We also got this cute new comforter set with tassels and new white sheets, too. Our bed feels like a cloud now, it's so cozy.
The terracotta rug I ordered came in as well, but after seeing it in person, I decided to return it and go with something different. The colors in the rug are beautiful but just not as vibrant as I'd like, and the rug feels a bit too small for the space. The new rug has been ordered, so fingers crossed it works out!
I also added leather pulls to our nightstands, which look so cute and really match the color of the headboard. I had originally wanted to cut out the center sections of the nightstand drawers and add cane webbing, but I think these pulls are a more practical choice for now.
And finally, we hung this beautiful carved wood full-length mirror. We did not previously have a mirror in this room, let alone a full-length one. Before, whenever I wanted to check out an outfit, I had to go downstairs to the mirror in the living room. So, obviously, this is so much better! And beautiful, too.
We also went to IKEA this week and purchased our new dressers. This week I'll be setting those up and adding a finish to them. We are still waiting on new sconces to arrive, but we're getting closer and closer to finishing this room! I can't wait to get the dressers in place and start styling this room up. I am loving it so far!
